International LEGO Day marks the day when Danish carpenter, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, first submitted his patent for the original Lego brick in 1958.

The LEGO company was founded in 1932. The company made a variety of wooden toys and took the name Lego from the Danish words “LEg GOdt” which translates to “play well.”
